Burnley residents to save money on energy bills thanks to Calico improvement programme

Calico has commenced work on phase three of its energy efficiency programme, which will improve the appearance of properties across Burnley and reduce customers’ fuel bills.

In partnership with British Gas, Calico is carrying out the £1.2m work with Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction to 249 homes across the Brunshaw, Clifton Farm, New Palace House and Woodbine, and Kibble Bank estates.

The work will transform the appearance of the estates, and will improve the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of the properties, resulting in significant savings on fuel bills for customers.

Funding for the programme has been obtained through the government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) initiative to complete a range of works, including:

  • External wall insulation
  • Replacement fascias, soffit and bargeboards
  • Replacement rain water goods.

Over £2.8m has already been spent on phases one and two of the programme, which has seen improvements to properties across the Belvedere & Turf Moor estates.

Lisa Bell, Calico’s Property Services Manager, said:

“We’re really pleased to start work on these estates. The programme has already made a real improvement to hundreds of properties across our estates, both in terms of appearance and the money customers are saving on their energy bills – some customers are now saving up to £300 per year.

“Feedback from customers who have already had the work done has been extremely positive – many have told us that it has made a real difference, reducing noise pollution and making their homes warmer.”
