Oldham’s new community café, Bean Good, has been given a clean bill of health, after it passed its first Food Hygiene Inspection with flying colours.
Opened in April, Bean Good is a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides fresh food and hot drinks in return for a donation which goes towards feeding homeless people or helping train people in recovery.
After recently undergoing a thorough Food Hygiene Inspection by Oldham Council’s Environmental Health department, the café has received a fantastic overall Food Hygiene Rating of ‘5’ – the highest rating available.
To achieve this, Bean Good also received a ‘5’ for each of the three required categories:
- Compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures
- Compliance with structural requirements
- Confidence in management/control procedures.
Bean Good is situated in Acorn Recovery Projects’ Brunswick House offices on Union Street, Oldham, and offers a unique ‘Buy One, Give One Free’ concept.
When a customer purchases a coffee or a meal, they are given a token, which they can then pass on to someone else to exchange for a completely free drink or meal.
The café was opened by Acorn Recovery Projects, who provide a range of innovative drug and alcohol rehabilitation services across the North West.
