Calico Careers ‘Make It Digital’ with innovative BBC traineeship

Calico Careers has joined forces with Preston’s College to roll out the BBC’s ‘Make It Digital’ traineeship programme which starts on the 18th of January.

The BBC’s ‘Make It Digital’ campaign is a major UK-wide initiative to inspire a new generation to get creative with digital technology.

It is the largest traineeship programme of its kind, and is designed specifically to give young people aged 16-24 the skills to help them start a career.

It is ideal for anyone who has a keen interest in social media, film and photography, website development, graphic design, and blogging.

The eight week programme will provide a number of opportunities to work on real creative projects through Calico Creative, who deliver digital projects across the North West.

A number of local companies have already agreed to provide projects and work placements as part of the programme.

Lindsey Danson, Calico Careers Manager, said:

“At Calico, we are passionate about finding work that people will enjoy and will play to their strengths. The BBC ‘Make It Digital’ programme will be great to give young people the inspiration and skills they need to find work in the creative and digital sector.

“Our existing traineeship programme has already proven to be a success with over 80% of young people successfully progressing into employment, apprenticeships, or further learning.”
