Deputy Mayor and residents officially start work on new Whitworth Care development

The Deputy Mayor of Whitworth joined residents’ families and staff for the ceremonial start on site of the new Whitworth Care facility.

The visit gave Deputy Mayor Madeline De Souza, alongside staff and relatives of residents, the chance to see where their new 28-bed, two-storey home is being built and how work is coming along, and to ask the team on site any questions about the development they may have.

Whitworth Care’s state of the art building will provide residential and dementia care, and will replace the existing care home on Coupland Close.

The new facility will provide additional capacity to meet the needs of the older population, including those with dementia, and will enable more customers to be able to access valuable care and support services in the future.

Work on the development is well underway by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction, alongside partners including architects Pozzoni, employers agency CPC, and structural engineers Francis Bradshaw Partnership.

Services will continue to be delivered at the existing site whilst work is underway on the new facility.

Karen Henderson, Head of Care and Support, said:

“We’re really pleased with how work is progressing on our new development.

“We were delighted to welcome everyone to the site, and to show them how our facility is taking shape and to get any feedback about the work we’re doing.”
