Calico Homes Welcomes Residents to New Affordable Homes in Burnley

Calico Homes welcomes residents to their brand-new homes in Burnley.

Located on Tay Street in Burnley, the new neighbourhood consisting of 40 two and three bedroomed homes and 2 one bedroomed apartments was completed in March, ready for residents to move in. The homes boast private gardens and driveways, with a quarter of the homes featuring electrical vehicle charging points.

The development was built by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction and funding of £1,827,000 was provided by Homes England towards the overall cost of development, to enable Calico Homes to provide affordable homes for rent. The new homes have been built on formerly under-utilised, grassed brownfield land.

New resident, Nicola, said: “I’m really happy and cannot wait to get settled”. Fellow resident, Danielle, added: “I’m pleased that my little boy now has a back garden to play out in.’’

Lisa Bell, Head of Development at Calico Homes, added: “We’re pleased to be in a position to provide another good quality affordable housing scheme within our local community. Demand for the properties has been extremely high and I hope that all of our customers will be very happy in their new homes.”

The new neighbourhood is made up of a mixture of families, professionals, and couples to create a well-balanced and positive community environment.

The wider development also provides ecological enhancement for wildlife to include elements such as bird boxes, bat boxes and hedgehog houses, helping to support the local environment.

Alongside new developments, Calico Homes continues to invest in programmes of work to improve its current homes, including insulation and window and door programmes. Calico Homes is committed to investing in the local community, providing high-quality affordable homes, creating communities where people want to live.
