Padiham eyesore replaced with £6m Perseverance Mill development

Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction are working to replace a well-known eyesore in Padiham with a much-needed, high-quality housing development.

Ring Stones has been working in partnership with Calico Homes on the 56-property development on Perseverance Mill, which will consist of a mix of houses, bungalows and apartments, all available for rent.

Calico Homes has invested £6 million into the development, with contributions from the Homes and Communities Agency and Burnley Borough Council.

The development will provide essential homes for people in the local area, and will replace a derelict eyesore which has blighted the area for years.

Ring Stones is a part of The Calico Group, which is passionate about investing in building new properties across Lancashire to create more social housing.

James Flitcroft, Project Manager for Ring Stones, said:

“We’re really pleased with the progress the team has made on this exciting development.

“The houses we have built here meet the demands of the area. Local residents told Calico Homes that they welcome the new development at a consultation event, which they believe will be a vast improvement to the eyesore that is currently on the site.

“Delivering high quality, affordable homes for local people, and the jobs that come with this, will always be a priority for Ring Stones, and Perseverance Mill will deliver on both fronts.”

Six apprenticeships and local construction jobs have also been created as a result of the development.

Annabelle Robinson, who is the Trainee Quantity Surveyor on the Perseverance Mill development, said:

“Working on a site like Perseverance Mill has provided me with lots of experiences and challenges as I have learnt all about the project right from starting the works in the ground through to building the finished product.

“Working on site has developed my skills massively. I have been able to enhance both my confidence levels and construction knowledge through working with subcontractors on a daily basis.”
