Whitworth Care Trust receive planning permission for new 28 bed facility

Local charity Whitworth Care Trust has successfully received planning permission to relocate to a new site to prevent current services for older people from closure.

Proposals submitted by Whitworth Care Trust for a 28 bed, two-storey facility providing both residential and nursing care, which will replace the existing care home on Market Street in Whitworth, have now been approved.

The replacement scheme will significantly improve the standard of accommodation and provide extra places to ensure support for older residents and those who use day care facilities is sustainable in the long term.

Services will continue to be delivered at the existing site in the meantime.

The news follows a recent full two-day inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The high quality of care delivered by staff at the Whitworth Care Trust was reflected in the inspector’s glowing report, and the service has been given an overall rating of ‘Good’.

Jill Webster, Care and New Business Manager said:

“We are extremely pleased with the decision to grant planning permission for our new care facility. The new development will guarantee that Whitworth residents will be able to access our valuable care and support services for the foreseeable future.

“The development will ensure that residents can stay in Whitworth for the long term, both now and in the future, and will remove any need for them to move away from the area, and from their friends and family.

“I’m also delighted with the fantastic feedback we received following the CQC inspection. The inspector’s report confirms that our dedicated and hardworking team are best placed to deliver the essential care our residents receive.

“Our ‘Good’ rating is an amazing achievement, and I know that we will continue to strive for even better in our next report.”
