Former Project Search intern at The Calico Group, Shoaib Durrani has won Employee of the Year award at the Burnley Customer Service Awards. Shoaib was recognised for overcoming every challenge that came his way and excelling in his role.
Shoaib is a Project SEARCH graduate from 2022 and was supported into work with Burnley Leisure and Culture.
Whilst being on two placements at Burnley Leisure and Burnley Mechanics, Shoaib potential shone through and was offered a permanent position at Burnley Leisure.
Project Search provides supported internships and employment training opportunities for ages 18-24 with learning difficulties. Delivered in partnership with Burnley College and Lancashire County Council, DFN Project Search supports people through work placement within The Calico Group.
Sarah Moorhouse, Project SEARCH Tutor, ‘Shoaib joined Project SEARCH in 2021 and wanted to follow his dream of becoming a waiter so the Project SEARCH team approached Burnley Leisure and Culture to see if they could offer him a placement.
After being offered a placement at Burnley Mechanics Bistro, Shoaib was offered a permanent role and has progresses so much so that he has won Burnley’s Employee of the Year award.
The whole team are very proud of Shoaib and how far he has come and overcoming any barrier that was in his way. Well done Shoaib on your well-deserved award.’
