Project Search interns lead the way in inspiring change

Our Project Search interns met up with interns from across the UK for the first ever Project SEARCH Youth Advisory Group meeting, in-person.

DFN Project SEARCH have over 130 sites across the UK, who are working hard to challenge cultures and demonstrate the talent and skills young people with learning disabilities can bring to a workforce.

Held in Birmingham, The Youth Advisory Group has been set up to educate employers across the UK in creating more inclusive employment practices. The Youth Advisory Group is made up of twelve members who are existing interns including 4 of our current interns and 3 of our graduates have joined the Youth Advisory Alumni.

Doing a great job in representing The Calico Group at the event, our interns met with other Project SEARCH interns from across the country to discuss inclusive employment practices and their experiences.

Jason Cherry, one of The Calico Group’s Project SEARCH interns now working at Advocacy Focus; ‘I’m proud to represent young people with disabilities and I want employers to see how great we are. The Youth Advisory meeting was brilliant, it was a wonderful day and it was great to meet fellow interns from across the UK.

Well done to all our interns on doing a great job on representing The Calico Group!
