Aspiring apprentices took their next step with Calico as part of our new Pathways recruitment programme.
After receiving more than 400 applications, around 80 candidates were invited to a unique Apprenticeship Assessment Day designed to help them showcase their potential in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Instead of a traditional interview, applicants took part in one-to-one conversations with recruiting managers, completed a values-led assessment and met colleagues from The Youth Group, Calico Enterprise and Burnley College, who were on hand to offer advice and support beyond the recruitment process.
The day was built around a simple idea: creating opportunities for local young people by focusing on ambition, values and potential rather than previous experience alone.
From first introductions to informal activities and conversations throughout the day, candidates arrived understandably nervous but left with greater confidence, new connections and a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them.
