Hundreds of residents from across Burnley came out to celebrate their community – and enjoy the fantastic weather – at Brilliant Burnley’s Fantastical Festival.
Held at Towneley Park, the Festival was organised by Calico to celebrate all the fantastic things about Burnley and the people who live here.
A host of fun activities and performances took place to reflect the creativity and variety across the town, including arts and crafts, lantern making, sports, music and dance.
Residents and staff took part in a range of competitions across a broad range of categories celebrating the traditional skills of the people of Burnley and Padiham, including baking, crafts and photography.
Prizes were also awarded to winners in the Junior categories, including William McGee, 6, who came first in the Cupcake and Photography categories.
The highlight of the day was the Fun Dog Show, with the Best in Show prize awarded to Stanley, an adorable Chinese Shar Pei.
Brilliant Burnley’s Fantastical Festival provided residents with an opportunity to find out more about some of the organisations that help make Burnley great.
Residents were also able to learn more about the range of services Calico provides, and to share their thoughts through Views for Vouchers, Calico’s biggest ever housing survey.
Alicia Foley, Calico’s Community Involvement Advisor, said.
“Brilliant Burnley’s Fantastical Festival was a great success – the weather was great, and the atmosphere was incredible. We’d like to thank everyone who came and enjoyed the festivities along with all our partners who helped to make the festival a great experience.
“The event was a great opportunity to meet customers and partners by getting out in the community and giving something back for the remarkable effort they put in to make their communities successful neighbourhoods that they are proud to live in.”
