Over 60 Calico Homes and Ring Stones staff make White Ribbon pledge

More than 60 repairs and trades team members from Calico Homes and Ring Stones made the ‘White Ribbon’ pledge early this year.

The pledge is a promise to not commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women. Those making the pledge become an ally to women and girls, starting by challenging the seemingly ‘harmless’ attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence.

Lyndsey Blades, Community Safety Officer, said: “As a company, we are going through the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance Accreditation and want to ensure across the group that the white ribbon pledge is embedded within our male dominated services”.

Pledges are usually made on White Ribbon Day, which falls in late November. However, this year, we decided to move it forward to ensure awareness is raised throughout the year.

Lyndsey added: “We will be running an event later in the year for the White Ribbon Campaign, but we wanted to get the message out sooner rather than later to our male operatives”.

White Ribbon Day aims to inspire positive action, especially by men and boys, to challenge harmful cultures and behaviours that perpetuate violence against women and girls.

Joanne Hoyle, Tenancy Sustainment Officer, added: “This was a real success and another step in the right direction to tackling domestic abuse”.
