Work on Whitworth Care’s development of a brand new care home facility is back on track – and now has a new name, chosen by its residents.
The state of the art, 28-bed, two-storey facility will replace the existing service at Sunnyside Rest Home in Whitworth, and will provide vital residential and dementia care.
It will offer additional capacity to meet the needs of our older population, including those with dementia.
The development now has a name – Barley View – chosen by current residents at Sunnyside Rest Home, who were actively involved in workshops with staff.
Work on the Barley View development is due to be completed in spring 2018, following delays due to uncovered issues with the land, which required additional planning permissions to ensure the development could progress.
Services will continue to be delivered at the existing home whilst work is underway on the new facility.
Whitworth Care recently held a successful recruitment event, which resulted in three additional people working for the organisation.
Karen Henderson, Calico’s Independent Living Manager, said:
“We’re very happy to be continuing work on this fantastic new facility. We’re committed to offering essential care, and saving treasured services in this beautiful village setting.
“With our brand new facility, even more customers will now be able to benefit from the essential services we provide.”
Whitworth Care, which manages Sunnyside Rest Home and Sunnybank Day Centre, provides residential accommodation and support services for older people.
