Staff and customers deliver life-saving support at Stockport Pride

Our staff and customers helped deliver advice around the life-saving support they deliver at this year’s Stockport Pride.

Staff from our services including Acorn Recovery Projects and Delphi Medical were on hand at Stockport Pride – an annual celebration of the town’s LGBT+ community – to share essential advice about the vital services they deliver around treatment for addiction.

According to Addiction Center, an estimated 20 to 30 per cent of the LGBT+ community are addicted to substances, compared to about nine per cent for the population as a whole.

Staff and customers were available to ensure that anyone attending pride who may be struggling with substance misuse issues were provided with essential information to help them access their services, and to hopefully reduce the number of people affected by addiction in the community.

Our services are committed to delivering real social impact, and are incredibly passionate about supporting the LGBT+ community

We have recently launched “This Is Me”, a group which provides a safe space for LGBT+ staff to share their experiences, and to support each other wherever necessary.

The group has had a big impact among staff, opening up important conversations and increasing the visibility of LGBT+ staff.
