Volunteers needed for Lancashire charity Furniture Matters

Charity Furniture Matters is looking for volunteers from across Lancashire to support their work, gain valuable experience, and develop new skills.

Furniture Matters extensively refurbish unwanted white goods, computers, furniture and other household goods, and provides them at low cost to local people in need.

They also offer a range of volunteering positions and training for people who are out of work or are looking for new employment opportunities, as well as anyone who would like to give their free time to support their community.

Volunteers play an essential role in the running of Furniture Matters – last year, 52 volunteers were supported to improve their employment skills and wellbeing.

Furniture Matters is looking for volunteers who are interested in developing their skills across a number of fields, including white goods repairs, IT, business admin, retail, social media, warehousing and delivery.

All volunteers are supported to create a portfolio of work and will be asked to think about their wellbeing through one-to-one mentoring with staff.

Steph Buchanan, Furniture Matters Manager, said:

“At Furniture Matters, we have a genuine focus on unlocking individual strengths, encouraging our team of volunteers to be the best they can be.

“We promote an environment where staff, managers and leaders are inspiring and supportive, so that volunteers get the most out of their work. If you are interested, get in touch to see how we can help you.”

People who are interested in volunteering with Furniture Matters can find out more by contacting Rob Cooper on rcooper@furniturematters.org.uk or 07970772437.
