Plans submitted to build 61 new affordable homes in South West Burnley

Calico Homes, part of the Calico Group, has submitted plans to build 61 new affordable homes in Burnley.

This latest development proposes a mix of affordable two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes, along with one three-bedroom bungalow and two one-bedroom bungalows. This diverse mix of homes will create a community suited to residents of all ages and needs.

Located off Melrose Avenue and situated between Kinross Street and Airdrie Crescent, the site is currently vacant grassland, and Calico Homes welcome the opportunity to potentially transform this space into high quality homes for the local community. The homes will be available under a local lettings plan for people with connections to the area, with a mix of affordable rent and ‘rent to buy’.

Calico Homes is working with Homes England to bring the site forward for grant funding. If approved, construction work by Ringstones Maintenance and Construction could begin in September 2022.

Wendy Malone, Director of Development at Calico Homes, said: “This is an exciting potential new opportunity for us as we are making six of the properties available for ‘Rent to Buy’. We hope this could be of huge benefit to people looking to become homeowners by making this an accessible and affordable option for many. I look forward to seeing the outcome of this submission in the near future.”
