Staff and customers from across The Calico Group have joined forces to help raise funds during Dementia Awareness Week 2016.
Residents at Calico’s Whitworth Care Trust took part in a special Tea Dance for residents to enjoy a dance together, tuck into some delicious cakes, and to have open and frank discussions about dementia.
Calico’s Independent Living team also organised a range of activities throughout the week to help raise money, including a ‘Denim for Dementia’ dress down day and a raffle.
The end of the week saw a number of employees generously donating their time to help pack customers’ shopping in the Burnley branch of Tesco.
In total, Calico raised £400 throughout the week, which will help buy equipment for people with dementia.
Joanne Chadwick, Calico’s Home Support Contracts Co-ordinator, said:
“This week has been fantastic. I’m really proud of the way staff across The Calico Group have embraced dementia awareness, and have given their time voluntarily for a fantastic cause.
“It’s our aim to have all staff attend a Dementia Friends training session, and to look at the way homes for older people can provide more support for people with dementia in the coming years.”
